VISUAL ARTS RESIDENCY PROGRAM FOR A MALAYSIAN ARTIST

The Australian High Commission is proud to support the Australia-Malaysia Institute (AMI) Visual Arts Residency Program, an eight-week Australian residency program for a Malaysian artist. The residency program will be hosted by the Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces in Melbourne.

The residency program will take place from 4 April until 30 May 2011. All Malaysian artists with a minimum of three years as a practising artist and some international experience in the artistic field are welcome to apply.

The AMI Visual Arts Residency Program aims to promote cultural understanding and to encourage cross-cultural links between Malaysia and Australia. The program will encourage partnerships between Malaysian and Australian artists and institutions.

Australia’s High Commissioner to Malaysia, Mr Miles Kupa, said the program “was a wonderful opportunity for a Malaysian artist to be exposed to Australian society and Australia’s vibrant cultural scene. It would also be an opportunity for a Malaysian artist to collaborate with Australian artists.”
