The Australian Boys Choir performs at the Australian High Commission

On 5 July, the Australian High Commission welcomed the internationally renowned Australian Boys Choir for a performance for staff, families and friends of the High Commission.

The Choir, led by Artistic Director Mr Noel Ancell OAM, performed a range of pieces by Australian composers, including the iconic Australian song Waltzing Matilda and pieces by renowned Australian composer Percy Grainger. Around 50 guests enjoyed the wonderful performance, which filled the High Commission foyer with Australian music, and enjoyed an afternoon tea with the Choir following the performance.

Established in 1939, the Australian Boys Choir is a non-profit organisation, formed to provide musical education to talented boys. The Choir consists of 27 talented boys aged between seven and 14 years, who were accompanied in their performance by ten members of the Vocal Consort (an adult choir made up of previous boy choir members), as well as pianist Mr Simon Bruckard and flautist Mr Fred Shade.

The Australian Deputy High Commissioner to Malaysia, Mrs Jane Duke, said: “Australia is proud to have such high-quality young ambassadors represent our country internationally and showcase some of Australia’s best talents. I thank the Australian Boys Choir and The Vocal Consort for this special performance - may you excel further in the international choral scene and in your individual music careers, and continue to make Australia proud.”
