The Australian High Commission in Malaysia and competition partner Malaysia Airlines Berhad invite amateur and experienced photographers that reside in Malaysia to show us their take on “Taste of Australia”*. The winner will win two return economy flights from Kuala Lumpur to anywhere in Australia covered by Malaysia Airlines Berhad.

Entries open from 12.01PM, 4 January 2016 to 11.59PM, 21 January 2016.

The winner will be announced on 26 January 2016 on the Australian High Commission Facebook page (www.facebook.com/ausinmalaysia) and website (www.malaysia.highcommission.gov.au/).

*Definition of “Taste of Australia”: to be broadly interpreted to refer to a culinary experience, outdoor event, lifestyle illustration, memories associated with Australia, etc.

HOW TO ENTER

To enter the “Taste of Australia” Photography Competition, you need to submit a single photograph, triptych or other photographic arrangement to the following email address: [email protected]. The photograph must be accompanied by a short caption or description of the photograph (i.e. where it was taken, why it conveys the theme of “Taste of Australia”). The photograph does not need to have been taken in Australia.

The photograph/s must fulfil photographic size requirements of 8 megapixels in order to be considered for judging.

You must be over the age of 15 to enter. Entrants under the age of 18 must have parental consent.

You can enter as many times as you like!

PRIZE

The winner of the 2016 “Taste of Australia” Photography Competition will win two return economy airfares from Kuala Lumpur to anywhere in Australia covered by Malaysian Airlines Berhad.

The winner will have their photograph/s displayed on the Australian High Commission’s social media platforms and website. The photograph may also be displayed during the biggest event of the Australian High Commission in Malaysia’s calendar, the Australia Day Reception.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

1. The Australian High Commission in Malaysia Australia Day “Taste of Australia” Photography Competition (the “Competition”) is open to Malaysian residents aged 15 and over subject to paragraph 2.
2. Employees or their family members or agencies of the Australian High Commission (the “AHC”) in Malaysia may not enter the Competition.
3. The Competition is open to all photographers (both amateur and professional).
4. Entrants to the Competition shall be deemed to have accepted these terms  and conditions.
5. To enter the competition, you must submit one high resolution (8 megapixels) jpeg photographic image to the theme of “Taste of Australia”*. The photograph must be accompanied by a short description or caption (i.e. where it was taken, why it conveys the theme of “Taste of Australia”). The submission must be sent to [email protected].

7. You are responsible for the cost (if any) of sending your Competition entry to us.
8. The image must not have been published previously in/on any other publication.
9. The opening date and time of the competition is 4 January 2016 at 12.01pm. The closing date and time of the competition is 21 January 2016 at 11.59pm. Entries received outside this time period will not be considered for the competition. The AHC in Malaysia reserves the absolute discretion to extend the closing date of the Competition.
10. An unlimited number of entries are permitted per person in the Competition. The person submitting the photograph must have full rights to use the photograph. The winner shall be the owner of the email account from which the selected winning entry is sent.
11. By submitting an entry to the Competition, you grant the AHC in Malaysia:

  • Permission for your entry to be published on the AHC in Malaysia websites including but not limited to http://malaysia.highcommission.gov.au/ and https://www.facebook.com/ausinmalaysia, and you grant the AHC in Malaysia a non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual licence (with a right to sub-license) to use, republish, edit and/or modify your Competition entry in any/all media (including in electronic format, hard copy and in AHC in Malaysia publications) for purposes connected with the Competition and as described in these Terms and Conditions.
  • The right to use your name and country of residence for the sole purpose of identifying you as the author of your entry and/or as a winner of the Competition.

12. You also hereby waive all your moral rights in your entry. Notwithstanding the afore-going waiver, in order to use entries as intended and advised in these Terms and Conditions, (i) the AHC in Malaysia may need to modify entries, including but not limited to resizing, cropping or colour adjustment as necessary, provided that the AHC in Malaysia shall endeavour in undertaking such modifications to maintain the integrity of your entry as originally created; and (ii) AHC in Malaysia shall provide a picture credit for all entries.
13. You own the copyright to your Competition entry as its author. Your entry must be your own work, must not be copied, must not contain any third-party materials and/or content that you do not have permission to use, must not include any trademarks, and must not show inappropriate or dangerous behaviour, or otherwise be obscene, defamatory, distasteful, offensive, or in breach of any applicable law or regulation, or in breach of any confidentiality obligations owed by you to third parties. If the AHC in Malaysia has reason to believe your entry is not your own work or otherwise breaches these Terms and Conditions, then the AHC in Malaysia may not consider it and may disqualify it.
14. Entrants confirm that each individual whose image is featured in the Competition entry has given consent for the use of his/her image in connection with this Competition and in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. Where an individual whose image is featured in a Competition entry is aged less than 18 years the entrant confirms that the parent or guardian of that individual has given the relevant consent.
15. This Competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook. You understand that you are providing your information to the AHC in Malaysia and not to Facebook. Your use of this site is subject to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade's Privacy Policy.

Picking the winner
16. A panel from the Australian High Commission will choose one winning entry from all the valid Competition entries received in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
17. The decision of who the winner of the Competition is at the complete discretion of the AHC in Malaysia and will be made on the basis of the following criteria:

  • conveys the theme: “Taste of Australia”
  • quality of the photo

18. The decision of the winning photograph of the Competition will be made on 26 January 2016. The decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

The prize
19. The winner will win two economy class return flights with Malaysia Airline Berhad to one of the following destinations within Australia: Adelaide, Darwin, Melbourne, Perth or Sydney.

  • Date of the winning flight is to be selected by the winner subject to availability

20. The winner will have their photograph/s displayed on the AHC in Malaysia’s social media platforms and website. The best photographs may also be displayed during the biggest event of the AHC in Malaysia’s calendar, the Australia Day Reception.
